How to Bypass Sensor
Understanding Bypass Sensors
Bypassing a sensor allows your alarm system to temporarily ignore a specific sensor while continuing to monitor all others. You can still Arm Stay or Arm Away, and the system will function normally except for the bypassed sensor.
This is commonly used when:
- A sensor is malfunctioning
- You want to leave a door or window open during an arming cycle
Example:
If you are hosting a BBQ in your backyard, you can arm your system while bypassing the back door. This allows guests to enter and exit freely without repeatedly arming and disarming the system.
Types of Sensor Bypasses
There are two types of sensor bypasses:
- Temporary Bypass – Applies to one arming cycle only. The bypass is cleared once the system is disarmed.
- Long-Term Bypass – Remains active indefinitely until you manually turn the bypass off.
Bypassing Sensors Temporarily
- Open the door or window for the sensor you want to bypass.
- The system status will display:
- “Hang on, your [sensor name] is open.”
- Or, if multiple sensors are open:
“Hang on, you have multiple sensors that are open.”
- Tap Check Status to view a list of sensors and their current status.
- Tap Bypass, Stay or Bypass, Away to bypass all open sensors.
- The 60-second exit delay will begin, and the panel will announce which sensors have been bypassed.
Temporarily bypassed sensors remain bypassed only until the system is disarmed.
Bypassing Sensors Long Term
If you need to keep a sensor bypassed for an extended period, follow these steps:
- Tap Settings (gear icon in the top-right corner of the panel).
- Enter your 4-digit Master Code.
- Select Sensors.
- Tap Edit next to the sensor you want to bypass.
- Toggle Long-Term Bypass to On.
The sensor will remain bypassed until you repeat these steps and toggle Long-Term Bypass to Off.
